ATME Marketing Issues Forum Travel Industry Forecast - February 1, 2011

This popular forum, sponsored by Fodor’s Travel, The Hertz Corporation, and Weather Underground, returns with a stellar array of leading industry executives offering their perspective on what 2011 will bring to their industry segments and to usher in ATME’s 31th year.

2009 was a difficult year for the industry. Smaller marketing budgets meant that travel marketers had to be more creative, justify all marketing expenditures and provide ROI for each initiative. Many companies flipped their traditional media mix, spending more on online and social media than on print and TV. Distribution channels also changed.

Did these new strategies work? Apparently they did as many sectors of the industry experienced some level of recovery. Most airlines were profitable in the 3rd quarter of 2010, hotels saw an improvement of RevPar, many destinations saw increases in travelers and people kept cruising. One thing is clear, marketing will never be the same -- and new insights are more vital and valuable than ever before. In 2010, more and more companies plunged into social media big time. Some withdrew virtually all print advertising causing several well known publications to shut their doors and delved instead into digital marketing exclusively. Our incredible panel will share how their new initiatives worked in 2010 and what they are planning for 2011 as we head into another year of uncharted waters.

ATME, as it enters its 31st year remains dedicated to helping travel marketers stay abreast of trends, effectively navigate the changing marketing climate, and build a path to success.

Panelists Include:
Vicki Freed, SVP Sales, Royal Caribbean International;
Greg Brown, VP Loyalty Marketing, Choice Hotels;
Hugh Riley, Secretary General, Caribbean Tourism Organization;
Krista Pappas, Global Head, Business Development, Bing (Microsoft);
Chris Rossi, SVP, Virgin Atlantic Airways
Michael Senackerib, SVP, Chief Marketing Officer, The Hertz Corporation.

The panel will be moderated by Susan Black, EVP, Global eCommerce, Travel Impressions & American Express Vacations and a member of the ATME Executive Committee.

Enjoy the lunch, network, hear the panel, help us celebrate our 31th year and walk away with a game plan for 2011.

For our marketing solution provider members, this is an excellent way to provide your clients with solid information that will help them become better marketers on today’s totally transformed playing field. We encourage you to take your clients as your guests.

At this luncheon, ATME will host a spectrum of New York area and out-of-town travel marketing executives. There’s no better networking venue, and no better way to exchange terrific marketing ideas.
